On 23rd October, the session was held as a large group activity. The characteristics of effective communication as well as obstacles to communication were explained in an interactive presentation on interpersonal and communication skills. The significance of asking, listening, praising and empathy were highlighted as components of communication skills. Interview skills were demonstrated through a brief role-play that involved a few undergraduate students. To illustrate nonverbal communication between a patient and a nurse, some pictures and documentation showing both effective and ineffective communication was also shown.
