• Iron Deficiency Anaemia affects a majority of our Indian population due to the poverty and the lack of proper weaning , food habits .

• There is a rise of increased junk food consumption amongst the adolescent age group. With this CME we aimed to ensure that students were inspired & motivated by following a healthy lifestyle with short & sweet speeches by the speakers to maintain the energy, interest & enthusiasm in the children . A way in which we can make an influence on conscious choices for a healthy life .

• Department of Paediatrics from MGM Medical College Nerul conducted a CME on Iron Deficiency Anaemia on Saturday , 30/11/24 at MGM Medical College Nerul from 12 pm to 2.30 pm for all Faculties and First Year MBBS Students .

• Students and all Faculty were served healthy Iron rich foods which was specially homely prepared and arranged by Paediatrics HOD Dr. Sunita Jain mam. The students & faculties were served Kokam juice , Beetroot Salad , Labsi, Almonds , Chikki ,Oranges, Dryfruits Laddoo. Department of Paediatrics served the food items with own hands to all , creating an impact to the younger generations that home food is the best food & food served with love and affection creates an energy of positivity, bonding & affection .

• The CME was anchored by Dr. Sarah Iqra (Tutor).

• The CME started with the Paediatrics HOD , Dr. Sunita Jain Mam briefing the audience about today’s CME highlights . .

• Lighting the Lamp of Knowledge was done by Dean madam , Dr. Sandhya Khadse and few volunteer students . Dean Madam addressed the gathering on the common issues faced in IDA.

• Dr. Priti Yadav Mam (Associate Professor ) from Department of Biochemistry gave a talk on the topic Metabolism of Iron .

• Dr. Sunita Jain Mam ( HOD) from Department of Paediatrics enlightened us about the clinical features , Differential Diagnosis through real life case scenarios seen in her long years of experienced clinical practice .

One of the patient was brought by mam from MCH Belapur Hospital to show the the features of IDA to our students .

• Dr. Neha Jadhav Mam (Assistant Professor) from Department of Pathology gave a talk on Classification & Investigations of Anaemia .

• Dr. Vedashree Deshpande Mam (Assistant Professor) from Department of Paediatrics gave a talk on Treatment of Anaemia .

• Interactive, fun filled rapid fire round quiz was conducted by Dr. Sarah Iqra (Tutor) & Dr. Sourav Das (Tutor) from Department of Paediatrics for the students on the topic Anaemia to test their knowledge post the CME session . It was a great time to bond up with these children who eagerly participated in the quiz and have shown interest to be great budding young doctors in the near future . Quiz arouse a lot of emotions amongst all , gearing them up for critical thinking . Dr. Prashant Weekey Sir (Assistant Professor) from Department of Paediatrics and other faculty were constantly keeping the spirit high in students for answering the questions. Prizes were awarded to the winners in the form of fruits to ensure that they adhere to healthy lifestyle .

• The CME ended with Vote of Thanks by Dr. Sarah Iqra(Tutor) from Department of Paediatrics and a memorable Group Photo .
