Pharmacovigilance Sensitization Program – Report

The Pharmacovigilance Sensitization CME program was held on 14th December 2024 at 12 noon in Lecture Hall 1, MGM Medical College, Nerul, Navi Mumbai. The event was organized by the Department of Pharmacology in collaboration with the Pharmacovigilance Committee. The program emphasized the crucial role of pharmacovigilance in ensuring patient safety under the motto: "No one should be harmed while seeking care."
Inauguration:
The session was inaugurated with a lamp-lighting ceremony by Dr. Sandhya Khadse (Dean), followed by Dr. Mahadik and senior HODs: Dr. Taksande, Dr. Abhichandani, Dr. Vishawjeet, Dr. Sunita, and Dr. Pradeep Jadhav. The ceremony was concluded with a Saraswati Vandana.
Session Highlights:
• Anchoring & Opening: Dr. Sarita Srivastava anchored the session, and both Dean Dr. Sandhya Khadse and Dr. Mahadik were felicitated with floral bouquets. The CME session was formally initiated.
• Session 1: Dr. Rajesh Margal (Assistant Professor, Pharmacology) led the first session on "Introduction to Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs)" and explained various types of ADRs.
• Session 2: Dr. Jitesh Rane (Assistant Professor, Pharmacology) discussed "Cutaneous and Systemic Manifestations of ADRs" in the second session.
• Interim Break: During the break, Dr. Sandhya Khadse (Dean) briefed undergraduate students on the importance of ADRs and the role of pharmacovigilance.
• Session 3: The final session of the CME was conducted by Dr. Pradeep Jadhav (Professor & HOD, Pharmacology), who discussed the "National Pharmacovigilance Program of India" and sensitized students and staff on the ADR reporting form.
